David L. Soulsby, M.D.



Dr. Soulsby grew up in Hansford, West Virginia near Montgomery. He attended West Virginia University for all of his collegiate and medical education. While in college, Dr. Soulsby majored in chemistry and received honors as the top ranked chemistry grad from WVU in 1978. After completing medical school in 1982, Dr Soulsby served as a resident in Orthopaedic Surgery at West Virginia University Hospital from 1982 to 1986 and as chief resident in Orthopaedics in 1987.

On completion of formal training Dr Soulsby practiced in Mt. Airy, North Carolina for four years but the lure of the Mountain State drew him home again. Since 1991 Dr. Soulsby has practiced in The Kanawha Valley. During that time he has focused his efforts on establishing and building the specialty of Orthopeadic Surgery at Thomas Memorial Hospital and on founding and growing Orthoclinic, PC. Dr. Soulsby is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, and a member of the West Virginia Medical Society. Dr Soulsby has served as Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery, Chairman of the Department of Surgery, and as President of the Medical Staff at Thomas Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Soulsby and his wife, Nancy, live in Teays Valley and have five children from 21 to 10 years of age. Together they enjoy their family time in church, outdoor activities, gardening, and sports.

Dr. Soulsby's professional interests are adult reconstructive surgery (total joint replacement), sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, hand and shoulder surgery. While maintaining a busy practice of patient care and surgery, Dr. Soulsby serves as Assistant Clinical Professor at the West Virginia University School of Medicine, and Clinical Instructor at Alderson-Broadous and Mountain State University Physician Assistant programs.

Dr. Soulsby is proud to serve as team physician for Poca High School and to be able to serve his friends and neighbors of the Kanawha Valley.
